November 14, 1970 ... Remembered
Memorial of the 1970 Marshall University Football Team Plane Crash
The Memorial Student Fountain was dedicated to the memory of the plane crash victims on November 12, 1972, by President John G. Barker. Each year on the anniversary of the fateful day - November 14 - a memorial service is held, which includes the traditional laying of the wreath. Then the water is turned off until next spring.
More than 13 feet high and weighing 6,500 pounds, the fountain was created by sculptor Harry Bertoia. It was his hope that the fountain woud "commemorate the living - rather than death - on the waters of life, rising, receding, surging so as to express upward growth, immortality and eternality."

Duke refuses to let me take his picture. He hates it more than the rest of the family and if I have a camera or my iPhone aimed at him he wants nothing to do with it. This is probably the best shot I have of him looking directly at me. I had to trick him by holding the camera out of his site but he knew something was up so he wouldn't get close to me.

When I open the door in the morning and see this looking at me I know it's going to be a good day.

This 365 project can be quite the chore. Especially if I have gone all day without even thinking about it. Then I get home and start a panic, looking and digging for creativity to take me to a shot that is worthy of the project. That happened again tonight. I was sitting there at the dining room table with my iPhone in hand looking around the room and then from the corner of my eye, through a transom window in the bay I saw these bold and vibrant colors.
We just had a massive storm come through that poured buckets sideways. Once it passed the sun came out in the west as bright as ever and over in the east out came this beautiful rainbow. The end of it reaches down into the storm that just passed by. The contrast of the sky was quite ominous as is still had that green electrical haze that comes with those vicious lightening filled storms. My head in the clouds once again.

Wow! I really like the way this one turned out. No set up at all. I just opened a fresh bag of sunflower seeds and decided to poke my camera into the bag. I like how there seems to be a hole going down through the center. I love me some sunflower seeds and probably go through 20 pounds a year. I find them most enjoyable while driving long distances. They work better than coffee for me.
