One of the things Kansas Citians are really proud of is our plush green grass. There's none like it anywhere.

I've got to figure out how to get about 15 pounds off. Well, I know how, what I meant to say is I need to make a commitment to get rid of it.

I think tulips are the most beautiful flower. I love that there are so many colors but red is my favorite. I remember when I was in Mrs. Price's fifth grade class at Nan Grey Davis Elementary in Theodore, AL we had a field trip to the State Capital in Montgomery for our Alabama History lesson. The grounds were covered with vibrant red tulips and I remember my Mom sending me with her 110 Kodak Star camera. This is my first memory of snapping shots. I still have those little square pictures with the rounded corners. Even at that age and being my first time without parental supervision I got a little creative and took a panorama of the capital and the tulip spread by shooting several shots moving slightly to the right each time. I was so happy and proud when we had the roll developed at K&B Drug Store and I was able to piece the shots together.
Maybe red tulips are my favorite because they bloom in early spring, maybe because of the impression they made on me on that big field trip away from home, maybe they were crimson and not red (Roll Tide Roll), maybe because they were my first subject matter as a photographer.
Thank goodness for the iPhone.

It wasn't actually a psycho ward of course. I took the kids down to KU Medical Center to see my mother-in-law [at work].

Perhaps the most entertaining street corner on all of Johnson County, KS lies at the intersection of S Mur-Len Road and W 135th Street.
There is work out there. You just have to want to work.
